Well I got my "new" injectors for my 91 Vette, just like I wanted, for Christmas. It also has a new battery, new alternator, and as of today, its third fuel pump?!?!? Don't think the mechanic knows what he's doing.
Whats the problem? The Vette used to start automatically, as soon as you turned the key. Went in for the injectors, now when it warms up, the car takes a loooonnngggg time to start up. If it sits a couple days, starts right up. Take it out every day, by the second day, starts taking longer to start. (But if you drive it for awhile, turn it off then start it right away, it starts right away, wait an hour, takes a long time, almost feels like it won't start!). When its running, runs like a DREAM. The annoying clanging noise is finally gone, which was def. the injectors. My husband thinks its still the injectors giving me the problems, the O Rings. They shouldn't have given me used injectors to begin with. What do you guys think? I am really missing driving my car!
yes I hear the fuel pump, but this is the 3rd fuel pump, which frankly, we think there was nothing wrong with the last two. Car took a while to start this morning. Don't want to take it out cause I know today or tomorrow I could get stuck where ever I may stop.
If its a fuel problem its probably not the pump. Pumps rarely cause such a problem. Time for a new mechanic. I do not Know what I would do if I had to rely on someone else to fix mine.
As of yesterday, when we picked up the car, the mechanic told us the Fuel pump was great. The pressure was terrible with the last pump, this one was good, (just replaced yesterday).
Since they were just working on the car, of course the car started "okay" not great. But like I said, got worse when I started it later on that night, and then I took it out, and almost didn't start at all an hour later when I was going home.
So....could it be still bad injectors?
Spent alot of money here, yeah, we need a new mechanic.
But like I said, we spent alot of money here and I want it fixed right for the money we spent.
sounds like a leaking injector(s) is 'flooding'' the engine...try this -- with engine warmed up and its ''hard start mood'', press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there while attempting to start the engine (release the pedal IMMEDIATELY when the engine does start)...''flooring'' the gas pedal tells the ecm to go to its ''flooded engine'' mode where no additional fuel is provided and IF this helps starting when hot is highly indicative of bad injector(s).
short fuel pump life/ poor pressure often result from failure to replace the ''wiring harness'' INSIDE the gas tank when a new pump is installed, and may even be only problem when a ''bad pump'' is diagnosed -- the connectors on the ''in-tank'' wires become corroded and pass little or no electricity to the pump...installing the 'old'' wiring harness onto a new pump ''scrapes'' the corrosion enuf to allow electrical flow/operation for a short time...''new'' wiring harness is under $15 at napa and most.

Is that what they are called, Wiring Harness? And is it a pain to replace?
They just need to remove the pump to replace the harness. If they charge more than 1 hour to do this, they are thieves. First time I did mine it was less than 45 minutes. No sweat involved. You should get some elde to look at the car, the current mechanic seems less than competent.

I think my husband is doing this job. He really doesn't have the time to do the major stuff (like injectors). The only reason I want to bring the car back to this mechanic (and I say the ONLY REASON) is because we spent soooo much on the car already with the injectors and the car now doesn't start right, (even though b4 all this it started right, just didn't run right, now its opposite!). I can't see spending that money then taking it elsewhere to spend the same amount? I don't have it anymore.
