Default Check Engine Soon!

My 92 with about 90K has been illuminating its "CHECK ENGINE SOON" light . It seems at about 15 min into driving it comes on. Engine seems to be operating as it were with the light off. Ill just be driving down the autobahn at an average speed and "flick" the light comes on. If I shut the car off and then turn it back on the light will go out. I want to say that its my o2 sensors, but I am unsure. I read a couple threads about pulling codes, but seems they are for 94' and older models. Is there an easy way to pull my own codes on my 92'?

You may just need to short A and B together to pull codes, if you don't recieve any codes it would be an intermittent problem just like my car is doing right now. After some trouble starting I've determined it's a loose wire or a loose ground going from the battery to the starter or distributor so my dad and I are going to go over all the grounds today. My car would do the same, come on after so many minutes each day but the car will continue to run fine, then it would sometimes flicker and go out completely then come on again the next day... very annoying. Hope you find the problem!

I too would guess the O2 sensor. But you don't have to guess

Here's the complete guide to pulling '92-'93 codes with codes defined too. Clicky

My 85 did the exact same thing. When I had the codes checked, it indicated the EGR valve. My car has very low mileage (29,000). I drove it hard a few times and it stopped coming on. My mechanic thought that it may have just been dirty from only being driven an average of 1300 miles per year since new.

Yep, sounds like an EGR code. Do you have aftermarket or no cats?
