Default Some nice suprises today

I finally got around to doing some nagging repairs on my yellow 93 today. I had a slight oil seepage from one of the valve covers and decided to replace the gaskets. Well, I have ALWAYS been a fan of buying my parts from NAPA Auto Parts but now it MAY change. NAPA could NOT get me the valve cover gaskets with the 8 grommets needed to do the job right. The grommets were listed in their parts book and on their computer as coming with the valve cover gasket set but 4 seperate packages from 4 seperate warehouses later, still no grommets. I went on line to Rock Auto, ordered the gaskets and they were delivered in 2 days and contained the correct grommets and, get this, even WITH shipping were $10 cheaper than NAPAs price!!

Then I decided to replace the long seeping clutch slave cylinder. I again priced it for NAPA and they wanted $120. I went on ebay and found the AC Delco part for $82 ,brand new, shipped to my door from " thepartsladi ". It took 2 days to get delivered to my door. It fit perfect and I was suprised to find that I had NO problem bleeding the air out. I took my old one apart and I am suprised that the clutch even worked. It was SOOOOOO corroded.

NAPA can be hit-or-miss. There's a large warehouse here that has stuff in stock that would have to be ordered elsewhere. Recently bought front rotors for a Buick wagon for $18 ea. And they were straight right out of the box.

one thing ive learned doing work myself is shop around for the best prices. alot of people also dont realize autozone and advanced auto match competitors prices so if ya find it cheaper someplace else but prefer a certain store speak up and say its cheaper someplace. dont know if napa does this but advanced auto and autozone does.
