Default Yet another headlight issue

Hi guys. Its been awhile since I last posted on the forum but it's getting close to car restoration time and I'm on the hunt for advice with a small problem i'm having.

My driver side headlight is acting up. It will open up all on it's own but will not retract to the closed position when the lights are turned off. The passenger side works fine and opens and closes as advertised. I have to manually retract the driver side headlight to the "off" position. If I turn the lights back on, both headlights flip open, but, again, the drivers side does not retract. It seemed to have fixed itself for awhile and was opening and closing with no problem, but now it's acting up again.

Now I know from reading around that there have been PLENTY of posts on headlight issues, but most seem to deal with the motors going bad. I felt the motor on the drivers side and had my wife turn off the lights with the hood up. When the passenger side light flipped to the off position, I did not feel ANY vibrations or hear any noise comming from the passenger side light's motor.

My question is this: Is there a relay somewhere that controls the voltage that opens and closes each individual headlight? Or possibly seperate grounding circuits for the open / close function? If this question has been answered before on another post, please just send the link and I'll be more than appreciative...Thanks for reading my post

Dave

I have a similar problem, except one of the lights on my 95 will not open. When I twist the black ****, it is stiff/tight. Then, when I turn on the lights, they both open and close, but the next time, the one will not open. Is there some way to lube the motor or gears?

My 86 is doing the same thing. Doing the research I found it was a possible relay problem. The relay is in front of the driver side wheel near the front park lamp facing the vacuum canister. There is a cover over them. I turn my lights on, then off, then I decided to slap the cover, and when I did the light went down. If you can't find it I could send you a picture if needed.
