Hello guys, Im Danny, new here=) i come from sweden and have just bought my first corvette.

its an 1992 with the LT1 and fullyloaded with stuff, im really pleased with the car, love it!

Well i do have one problem that i have notice now, and its that the radiator Fan dosént turn off itself, everything works, the Temp is good and the fan goes on when its suppose to but it´s not going off after cooling the engine... Does anyone have a clue what it can be?

Appreciate all the help i can get, and have some patience with my english, maybe not the best (hehe)... hope someone can help me...

The left hand (drivers side) fan will come on any time the A/C is turned on. Or, with the A/C off, the fan should come on at about 228* and cycle off at about 219* as read on the coolant temperature speedometer read out.

The passenger fan will come on about 238* but hopefully you will not get that hot.

Explain: Fan goes on when its suppose to but it’s not going off after cooling the engine.

Your fan is computer controlled. If the temp sensor that feeds the computer were bad, it would also affect the way the engine runs when cold, fuel mixture, cold idle, etc. The computer will run the fan anytime the A/C is on, and that includes the defroster, regardless of temp. See if turning the climate controls all to off stops the fan on a cool engine.

RACE ON!!!

Hey again guys, thanks for the quick answers...

Ok, its like this, i have the A/C OFF , but when idleing the fan just keep going, i dont know exactly how to explain it but the fan is ON all the time, not the A/C fan the cooling Fan, it turn itself ON when it suppose to, but after cooling the enginge it still runs...

thats the problem, what to do=)

It is also possible that a previous owner (PO) has reprogramed your fans to come on at a much lower temp and unless the car goes below that they will stay on. The only way to know for sure would be to have a tuner pull the bin file and look.

If the temp is below 210 or so and the AC is off, the fans should be off. Post the exact temp that fans come on and how low temp goes after it comes on.

Check your cooling fan relay along with the connector and wiring. Try tapping on the relay when the fan is on but should be off. The relay may be sticking.

How can it keep cycling on, if it never turns off? Be aware that the correct "Off" temp is a good 10° F lower, or more, than the "On" temp. Are you expecting the fan to shut off before it is really supposed to? Switch your dash to read in English units so that the temps you report will be meaningful to most of us. It makes little sense that you would have a sticking relay, because the fan is off when you start it cold the next day (isn't it?).

That's why I asked him to post actual temps at the points that these events or non events occur.

OK guys, now i have checked the car again.

I turned the a/c OFF, i was driving around for a while and then i parked and was Idleing...

At 196 BOTH fans started, but the temp remained at 196.

I let the car idle for 8MIN, and the fan NEVER stopt, and temp temp was always at 196 which is pretty low?

but anyway the problem is that the fan just keep going...

I doubt your fans will ever stop once they start while idling. When you get up to speed or temps really drop they will stop. If the temp remains constant they won't go off. I will tell you this, at 196F idling for 8 minutes, you don't have a problem. My advice worry about something else.

If your fans are on at 196, then someone has reprogrammed them. And at that temp, they will probably never go off unless you are moving. While the car is stopped, there is no air flow through the radiator (unless the fans are running), and the temps will never get much below 196 if at all.

Ooo okey,, well so you guys think thats its totally ok?

the bad thing is that i dont know when driving around if its ON or not...

Im worried that its always running when im driving around too, and that bad for the stuff cause i know they arn´t build to be ON when you are driving...

Default chilton says...

88-94
ecm commands primary fan when coolant temp reaches 226-degrees f, when ac is on or if a cooling sys or coolant sensor diagnostic code is occurring. ecm commands secondary fan to run if primary is running, ac is on if vehicle is below 55 mph, if temp exceeds 235F or if a cooling sys or coolant sensor diagnostic code is occurring.
that said, does your dash intermittently flash "sys" where the temp usually appears when fans running?

BURN the Chiltons. First, the fans from 1988 to 1994 don't all work the same. 1988 and 1989 auxiliary fans are activated by the aux fan switch in the head, not the ECM. With no caps and few periods, it is difficult to follow what is written there. Is that the wording of the Chiltons? That is incomprehensible gibberish. Burn the Chiltons.

I am CFI-EFI, and I approve of this message.

Default burn it eh?

really? where does the aux switch in the head run to in the 88 -89?
if it is independent as you seem to suggest then the aux comes on regardless of what ever the primary ior ac setting is doing? and at what temp does that happen in the 88-89?
