I should mention mine would not work on my 93 when I first got it. It did work fine on all OBDII cars tried. The problem was just as Finn described with his tool. Customer support eventually sent me one that does work though it did require some persistence.
Autoxray and Actron are actually different divisions of the same company.
I should also mention that unlike factory scan tools like the Tech 1 and others, the Autoxray and Actron are not bidirectional. That means you can read and erase codes, view the data stream but you can NOT actuate solenoids and relays. You will need to spend quite a bit more money for a tool that has such functions.

Default actron cp9145 worth a look?

On the topic of scan tools, I recently bought an Actron CP9145. Out of the box it read my '94 C4, my kid's '95 Camaro (both ODBI compliant w/ and ODBII connectors) and my 2002 & 2003 GM daily drivers which are full ODBII compliant. It is their older model .... but so is my Vette. ODBI & ODBII in the same tool on top of that Amazon is curently selling it under $100 w/ free shipping & ALDL adapter cable for older ODBI runs another $25. I'm satsified for the money.

Default On Board Diagnostics - ALDL pin 12 Gnd only

Also you cannot clear codes in module 9 by disconnecting the battery. It has to be done as I said or with a scanner (Tech 1 or such).

I can do this faster than disconnecting the battery and stay cleaner.
On my '93 LT1 all you have to do to access the On Board DTC error codes is short the ALDL pin 12 to ground with the ignition off. I do this by using a test wire with allegator clips on either end. Clip one end to the ALDL pin 12 and the other to the Gnd terminal on the batter. Then turn the ignition key to on and the speedo area will become a diagnostic center.

System will automatically cycle through any DTC codes. If no codes exist you'll get a C12 code. You can also view live values / data of various functions.

There are three primary functional areas of DTC's and data values to display:

CCM (1.x)
ECM (4.x)
ABS/ASR (9.x)

The button functions are below. If any wants scanned copies of the '93 Factory Service Manual Diagnostic Mode section let me know.

Fuel Info - Previous Value
Gauges - Previous Test
Fuel Reset - Previous Module
EngMet - Next Value
Trip ODO - Next Test
Trip Reset - Next Module

Why don't you just unplug the connector beside the battery? It's the main power connector for the computer?
