I have been having problems with my 87 vette going dead at times. and every so often, when I give it the performance test, it would pop and bog as though it is running out of gas. Well recently, it stop running. No fuel pressure. Change the fuel filter and pump and strainer. Car started up ran great for a half day. Then it happen again. No fuel pressure. Put in another and still no fuel pressure. pump running but no fue pressure. I can't find any crimp lines. I also ran a hot wire to pump manually. Pump ran but no fuel pressure. I know the pump came from advance auto. It is a boush pump. Could 2 pumps be bad or am I over looking something. Could the fuel regualtor cause this no fuel pressure problem. I also chang the computer. Sorry so long, but I really need the help fast. Thanks, ICANTDR55
Make sure you have enough gas in the tank. If the fuel pump is sucking in air, you will not get a reading on the gauge. Check the fuel pressure regulator vac line for signs of gas. Did you install the fuel filter correctly according to the arrows?
Might want to pull the hose of the fuel feed line and have something to catch the fuel. Have someone turn the key "on" and see if any fuel comes out of the line. If it does, then you might have a kink in the lines or the FPR is bleeding through the vac line. Check your oil level and see if it's above normal.
Good advice from RRT.
How are you determining no fuel pressure ?? gauge ?? If so, are you sure the gauge is working/hooked up properly. My hose that connects to schrader valve has an adjustable pin to depress valve, if out of adjustment, I can get o zero fuel pressure.
If the pump is running and there is no fuel pressure (and no blockage in the feed line), then there is either a substantial leak somewhere, or the pressure regulator is bad and is allowing all that fuel to flow freely back to the gas tank. If you pinch the return line and run the pump for a few seconds, you should see pressure hold.
