Ok, here is a scan they are called "Engine Mount Bracket Braces" If you can read the instructions for removal you will see there is no mention of supporting the engine. They simply brace from underneath, the engine mount and bracket is part of another assembly.

So you have to remove that stuff to get the lower A Arm out huh. Interesting.
I just looked under my 93, I cant see how that bolt will have any problems coming out. Maybe I need to jack her up, but it doesnt look like in interferes with that bracket.

Don't know about your year C4 but it is in the way on a 96 coupe

I agree as some years are different, but when I get her up in the air, I will see. It just doesnt look like it is affected by the braces.

It is. You'll find that you need about another 1/4" to 1/2" to get the bolt out with the braces in place.

Takes 10 minutes to move both braces out of the way. I wouldn't waste my time pondering it.
