Car went on fire......
Ok, nothing serious, took the hose, put it out. Seems like both valve covers are leaking, pretty severely. I lost over 1/2 court in 20 minutes The driver's side more than the passenger. I torqued them down pretty tight.
Drivers side V/C is pretty simple to remove, right.?
So remove the valve cover, remove the gasket and set the V/C back on and make sure the rim of the head fully drops into the channel around the V/C, I'm pretty sure when you try this test your going to find some type of interference.
Hope this helps.
Those are good gaskets, I have them and they are 100% leak free.
I siliconed 2 corners, let dry, then glued and clamped the other end. Once dry, the gasket goes no where.
What method did you use ??

Well, I dry fitted the VCs on the heads before I did anything. I took the gaskets out of the box an had to stretch them into the VC. They seemed a bit tight, but fit none the less. I did not use any sealer on them, as I thought you weren't supposed to.
They stayed tight in the VC, and I put them on the heads and tightened each bold individually, one at a time, a little at a time.
I'm using the same gaskets and similar valve covers. Mine have a different design on them and are the perimeter style. I havent had a single leak and only tighten them down hand tight. Are you sure your covers arent cracked or the gasket isnt torn or something?

Everything looks fine. The gaskets are all in tact, they are sitting straight. I don't get it.
Maybe your valve cover bolts are bottoming out in the heads and not compressing your gaskets .try shorter bolts. This happend to me when I put on different valve covers.

didnt think about that before, I replaced my bolts too.

The bolts are pulling so tight they compress the rubber washers that come with the heads. I tightened them to the point where the center of the VC was pulling down.
hi ya i had the same problem with those same gaskets i have the edlebrock vc, so similare but differet, the gasket dosent stay in the rite place when sneeking the valve covers through all the crap to fit them on and a corner of the gasket would not seet rite on the head, so i had to take some glue and glue the gasket to the vc to install
When you say you torqued them pretty tight, your problem may be right there. You may have overdone it and warped them.I have stock covers and use those gaskets and don't go much over finger tight. Also if you have those internal tubes that the bolts run through you may have to grind the ends off.
I'd try it again and try it without so much torque. It is just like the oil pan gasket, felpro now sells it with a metal insert so you can't over tighten and cause leaks because everybody does.

just kidding, try installing them without over torquing them... i use those gaskets on my stock covers.
I'm only torquing them down with a 1/4 inch drive ratchet, and I'm using the bolts that came with the valve covers.
What do you guys think of the gaskets with the metal core, that's what I used on my oil pan and I'm having no problems there.
I can't believe that a gasket is that sensitive to torque. I'm not saying it isn't, it's just kinda stupid that it is.
