Have to replace my outer door handle. Any pointers????
The door handle on the 95 is broken so I have to pull it, and switch the lock to the new handle. The FSM makes it look like a major PITA. Is there anything I should look out for????? I'm really not looking foward to it
Its not that bad of a job...just take your time and follow the FSM...maybe about an hour to and hour and a half...have a few beers while your doing it to relax.
If you have your FSM, you have a lot more knowledge to draw from than I did when I took this job on. I've done this job so many times that at this point I take it for granted, and no longer have any idea which steps were not obvious the first time around, but I'll try to guess.
Having a very small 1/4 ratchet goes a long way.
Don't try to do it without removing the aluminum sheet; removing the sheet is easy. Be sure not to accidentally loosen bolts that are meant for window stops or you might throw off your window alignment; there's only one larger bolt on the alumimum sheet that needs to be loosened, none of the other larger bolts in the door need to be touched.
Be sure you learn how the little clips work where the lock rods attach. Once they're loose, you may need to use pliers to force the rod out of its hole. Once you master those little devices, getting the rods out of the door and out of the way is easy.
I was planning to do it tomorrow but my wife just took the day off work now I dont know if I will have the time........it will definitly be this week and I will let you know......Thanks
I just did it and it took and an hour and 45 with several stiops........tghanks to you guys for the cheering section. One minor issue is that when the alarm goes off the key wont shut it off.......hafta work on that......
