I have an 86 that ran well, but its now time to "freshen" it up. As of now, its just a "stock" 350, but I'd love to squeeze a little more out of this, Besides the headers and exhaust, I'd love to hear any suggestions as I'd lke to keep this around $5000 give or take !
I'm not into the 1/4 miler, but I do love to go fast !
The heads must come off, so I'm open to all opinions !
Thanks
Scott

How is the bottom end? Is it iron or aluminum heads? If all you need is .030 over refresh put the rest of the money in high flowing aluminum heads, a medium to big cam, and long tube headers.
You will find lots of combos on here that work well so start searching and pick the heads and cam based on the search. These have been done and work.
You will stay on budget with a lower end rebuild, aftermarket heads, cam, headers and exhaust. The intake will be the controversy. Lots of opposing opinions and each with their own supporting test data
I am at about 6K so far with the tranny included so it can be done on a budget. Heck...I think the alternator and cooling system may be the only original pieces left under the hood
