1985 c-4 code 43
I believe im having problems with my ignition timing. but im not sure. I have replaced the fuel pump, now theres long delayed starting when the engine is warm. and replaced esc module and fuel mileage went form 25 to 14 mpg. im so lost, the cat is not burning eggs now, but the idle stayed the same idles bad, now is hard to start. if i go back to my old parts the esc causes eggs smell and the old fuel pump starts the engine right off but the surging and hesitation is terrible, plus im leaning out at hwy speeds. I am an import tech this is my first tpi im so lost guys, cant afford to spend much more to get her running right.

I looked up your problem in the factory service manual. Code 43 indicates the electronic spark control(esc). When going down the diagnostic chart with the problem you are having, it seems to indicate checking the electronic control module(ecm). Check for open or short to ground in wire terminal#B7 Ckt457.If it is not open ,it is a faulty esc connection or esc module. I hope this may help.

Sounds more like fuel delivery problem than an ESC problem. How is your fuel pressure situation. Good pressure ? Does it hold pressure with engine off ?
