Default 86 Bose Radio Question

Hello! I'm new here, but I have learned alot after reading all the posts in this forum. I have recently purchased an 86 Vette and have a question about the bose radio that I can't find an answer for that maybe someone can help me with. The radio that is in my car has no "set" button. In all of the readings that I have found, all of the 86 Bose radios HAD this. Do I have a different bose radio, or were there some 86's made with the 84-85 style radio with no "set" button? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Post a pic, maybe someone will recognize what car it's from. Here is a pic of my old Blose unit(86), for comparison.

Here's a pic of mine.

It's the same, except for the location of the delco/bose sticker and the "set" button. Any ideas?

My 87 was the same as Dan's, I bet somebody switched yours out at some point. How about if you checked for a part number on your unit somewhere?

That looks like someone just put a Bose emblem on a gm radio

Look at the side of the radio behind the *****. If it has a finned
aluminum side panel, its a regular Delco cassette deck out of
something else. The Bose has a tin side cover and is sort of
empty there. No amp inside. Benny

The car has all the correct speaker/amp combos though (and everything seems to be working correctly). Does a standard Delco deck still work with all the bose equipment and are the hookups in the back of the stereo the same as a bose deck? Sorry for all these questions, but now I'm really confused!!

The '84 wiring diagram for the amps looks like an '84 head unit would plug right into an '86 car and work. That may have happened in your car. http://misterbill.homeip.net/vette/w...%20system2.jpg

Wow. Thanks for the info. I bet that's what the previous owner did. His Blose bit the dust and replaced it with whatever he could find. Looks like I'll be scouring the internet trying to find a year correct one.

I just so happen to have a correct year one that is in serious need of repairs, but at least it is an original '86. I was going to throw it out; PM me if you want it. You'd probably need to send it to one of those stereo doctors.
