Default cooling questions

ok so the other night my car started runnign hot. i figured itd be my thermostat because it was the one i had in when i first started the car. so i changed the thermostat and the radiator cap and burped the car. took it out that night and was fine, the hottest i saw it get was like 195 then it started to cool down.

today at break i was messing with the car to see if i could get it hot and it started climbing until it got to around 215 then i shut it off. looking around i saw that the top radiator hose had no coolant running through it.

what do you guys think it is? my boss said that it could be my water pump.

If there was no water in the upper hose, then either you did an inadequate job of burping it, or else you have lost coolant. Coolant CAN leak from the water pump, but it will leave a puddle underneath where it is parked. So will all other leaks. I'd first be sure it is full and then monitor it from there . If it is loosing coolant, you want to know where it is going. The iron headed engines aren't as prone to blown head gaskets as the aluminum headed engines, but it does happen.

RACE ON!!!

yeah im really hoping it doesnt have a blown head gasket cause thats what i jsut got done doin. i dont see the milkshake in the oil and the coolant looks clean. theres no fluid gushing out of the overflow. there is a little white smoke once in a very long while thats about the only bad thing.

well anyways im gonna be changin the water pump 2morrow jsut cause i didnt change it when i rebuilt everything and i already have one ready to go on. so hopefully everything works out fine and i dont have a blow head gasket.

ok well i ended up burping the system pretty good. oh and did a block test to see if there was gas/oil whatever in the coolant and it came out fine.

i had the car rasied pretty high as you can see

then this is where i ended up at after idling and revving it once in a while.
