Default Electrical Problems!! Common Denominator??

I recently purchased a 1993 40th Anniversary Edition C4. It has a number of problems that will need to be corrected. I’m wondering if there is a common denominator. I’d really appreciate any advice that you more experienced owners can provide. Is there something common to C4s that would cause all (or some of ) these problems:

• When I turn off the ignition and remove the key, a ticking sound coming from the area underneath the glove box.
• When I turn off the ignition and remove the key, the radio continues to play.
• The high beam lights don’t work. The switch lever doesn’t have the normal feel for this type of switch.
• The horn doesn’t work.
• The AC/Heat don’t work. At best, “luke warm” air is blown from the heater. The windows don’t defog at all. The AC doesn’t work at all. Sometimes antifreeze can be smelled, no signs of a leak can be seen.

1. Normal PKE sound sometimes it does it
2. Normal there is an accessory delay on these cars should go off when you open the door.
3. Yous should hear a click when you pull back the TS stem when the high beams are turned on. If not it may be a bad switch. PITA to fix
4. Check for voltage at the horn plug. If you have replace the horn if not check the relay under the hush pad and work back.
5. You need to elaborate what HVAC controller you have. When the AC is turned on the clutch on the compressor should engage. When defrost is on the same.Heater core might be bad/bypassed it is connected under the surge tank look at the hoses around there.

You need to get the factory service manual form Helms web site or ebay for your car if you want to work on it.

Thanks for all of the good information. PKE ??? It just started making the ticking sound in the last week. It wasn't making it previously. Also, now the battery loses charge.

PKE is the keyless entry system. Mabey you ticking isn't being caused by it.I do not have a clue what it may be but a FSM would help you find it for sure.
