I started up the car today for the first time after the winter.
I let the car idle for about 10 min.
Then the car started to boil due to air in the coolant system.
I could se water and steam come out from the t-stat housing, and rear of the intake from the gasget area (where the coolant hoses goes for the converted lt1 intake).
And I could also hear it boil in the radiator.
My first thought where that now need to replace the intake gasget.
BUT after I mange to get all the air out, and then re-torqued the intake bolts ( just to be sure ), I cant se any leaks, and the coolant level does not decrease.
Im I just lucky, or should I repalce the gasget anyways?
Yeah. I changed the t-stat and gasget. I have not chagned the intakegasget yet.
Right now I have test drive the car, and no more overheating. ANd no steam/water is leaking.
But perhaps Its bet to replace that intakegasget anyways
My 86' would always look like the radiator was full, but I would get a "Low Coolant" light. I followed the "Burp & Pack" procedure in the C4 tech notes section here and that fixed me right up.

Yes m8. I followed the procedure as posted here. And now the temp is stabel. Im just worried about the intake gasget. But so far it seems to keep tight. I cross my fingers...
