93 Pke
I have a 93 with ,apparently, no PKE. I've been told it was a stock item on 93. I don't think it was, I'm sure it was an option.
Is there an RPO code for PKE? And if it was stock how can I make it active. Obviously I have to get a fob.
Any help appreciated.

PKE was standard on all 93's, you will need a key fob to turn it back on if it is now off. See the link below if you don't have an owners manual

Thanks very much for the info on Keyless Entry. Now I know that it has it I need to find a transmitter unit.
From what I understand from the text they are universally programmable. Did I interpret that right?
If anybody knows of a parting out that has a PKE unit f/s I am looking for one.

You can check one item before you get the FOB. This will tell you if the PKE receiver is basically alive and healthy.
When you turn the key to on, the PKE lamp should light on the DIP (light panel) for 2 seconds. This is a form of a quick self test. The lamp is in the lower left hand corner. If it lights, you in good shape. But if it does not light, the PKE receiver could be defective. Or if the system is in sleep mode, that could prevent it from lighting also. But do the basic check first and see what you have.
The FOBs are hard to come by and most get them on Ebay including me. You have to get the one that is for your car. Coupe or convertible, they do not cross over.

I agree that buying a transmitter is a gamble because they have become quite expensive, most I see on E-bay sell for $100 to $150. Coupe and convertible transmitters do interchange, but those for convertibles lack the third button to open the hatch on a coupe, the other functions should work. If you can borrow a transmitter from another owner to attempt the reprogramming process you should be able to determine if your receiver is functional
As always the best diagnostic practice is to use the procedures in the FSM.

Based on phat87's first post I have to assume the light does not light. The key on test only tells you if the PKE is currently turned on, yes if the light doesn't illuminate it could be a bad receiver, it can also mean it has just been turned off.

with all.Let me go one step further. If the PKE is off or sleep mode, you can go into programming mode with out a FOB. If you can’t get the lamp to illuminate a FOB is not going to help you. I have tested this and you can bring it out of sleep mode by just entering the beginning of the program mode (and check the lamp if all is working proper).
If you can't get to this level, most likely a repair will have to be performed.
When I got my 94 the lamp would never come on no matter what. I spent much time and checked everything but ended up replacing the PKE receiver.
