It's obviously a joke. I was slowing down on the highway and saw that so I thought it would be a funny pic. I average about 27 on the highway at over 70 mph.

I will get an average of around 29 MPG on the highway at 70 but I also have the 3.07 gear, so you 2.5x rear gear guys are going to have 3-4 MPG over me.
it all sounds about right to me. I can fill mine up, and drive for 3 weeks before it needs gas again. this is also my "economy" car. being that the turbo PT cruiser only gets 26 highway and my ZR2 s-10 gets 21
Best I have ever done is about 27.5 MPG on the hwy @ about 70 mph. However, I really have a hard time keeping my foot out of it; so most often I see an average of something like 16 mpg.
My 87 with 3.07 gears gets right around 29.2 at 65 mph on the cruise control over flat terrain and this is with a 383 stroker and emissions legal Edelbrock heads with 24 ib Accel injectors.
The engine remains at 9.5 to 1 compression and was built to pass California emissions.
Then this morning, when the 3 codes tripped up, it dropped to 21 - 22 in a 15 mile stretch. I could smell the rotten eggs smell (rich burn) at the stoplight in the next town...

I have an 88. the only mod has been the mufflers, I have never seen more than 18 MPG avarage and now since I have the transmission and the differential serviced I do not go higher than 14 mpg. The car has 89000 original miles. Does anyone why is it that I have such a low readings on my avarage mpg? I drive at an avarage of 80 mph, that's this has anything to do with it at all?

Don't believe any of this. Most of the time the readout is bull****.The only way to tell MPG is to fill the tank, drive 200 miles and refill the tank. Then do the math.My average always shows around 18 but I only get about 12 to 14 when I do it on fill ups compared to mileage. On a long highway run I can get about 28/30 if I keep it around 80 but the read out says 23????
