I need help with the install of my heim jointed end links. I am doing every link in back with heim joints I was hoping that someone would have pics of the install that I could take a look at and maybe some tips as well. I will be doing the camber brackets and trailing arm brackets from EM as well. Is this a hard job to tackle with jackstands and a driveway? Anyone want to come over and help........free beer!
I've heard this is not recommended for daily driver Vettes, since the Heim's are not protected from the environment and dirt as well as normal greased joints with a rubber boot.
However, I have also found some of the newer, "self-cleaning" Heim joints have Teflon strips that do an excellent job of lubrication, without attracting dirt which normally wears them out.
Any comments to this? I currently DD my '95, but will soon be parking it in the garage when I assume my wife's 2000 Passat as my new DD.
The heim joints are prone top wear for street driven cars and will get clunky after a short time. There are other options for a hard link in the form of a tie rod based configuration that resist wear and make no noise.
I love Seals-it products! They got alot of notoriety in '91 when they came to the rescue for the Apache and Blackhawk helos in Desert Storm. They supplied the boots for the Heims on the rotors and they survived the dust and sand storms so much better after.

We started using the seals-it on our dirt Late Model's heim joint suspension back in the mid 90's. With 12 heims (just on the rear suspension) it gets expensive replacing them every 1/2 a season.
Great prouduct.
As for their life span on the street... its all related to how high of a quality Heim you buy and how well you maintain it.
Will
as far as maintenance goes on heim joints what does everyone do and what kind of lube does everybody use also where can I get the sealsit boots? how do I measure my rod ends for the sealsit boots? how do I know what size I need?

It's not a hard job since the knuckle doesn't actually have to come off. It is something you can do in the driveway with jackstands. It'll help if you get the car as high as possible. Setup will require you setting the length of the trailing arms before install and getting an alignment after you're done.
