if you enjoy working on your car a lot, do use napa or ecklers. in my opinion those joints are complete garbage. the only off brand that auto parts stores carry that is even remotely decent is naepco. buy spicer, they don't cost more and they are FAR stronger. those cheap ones will liquidate the needle bearings really quick, overheat and snap. tolerances are just crap. yes i have broken more than one precesion brand. not only are they trash but they are hard to install. why you might ask, well, the tolerances ! they suck, seriously if someone offered to kick me in the junk or force me to run cheap joints i would actually need a minute to think about it.

Got to think outside the square. Not all Vette parts have to come from Ecklers.
Go to a place that builds driveshafts or sells truck parts.
And buy Spicer 1350 uni's.
I replaced mine with Spicer's after doing a lot of research on the forum and definitely recommend them. I got mine from Tom's differentials http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/
I replaced mine with Neapco Brute Force. price and quality are equal to spicer and they are easier to find. Mine see only hard use from autocrossing and no problems.
Can't find any at the moment, but I thought I had read several threads last year indicating that the appropriate Spicer ujoints are no longer made or were superceeded by the parts which aren't (as) suitable for aluminum shafts. Confirmation, anyone?
I've gotten a wheel bearing from Thepartsladi on eBay and it's held up well over the past 4 years. I never thought about it, but I guess the stuff she sells is legit!*
*only reason I question it is that there have been "genuine AC Delco" sellers on eBay before that scam the shozz out of you with cheap ***** parts.

sure are, you should see the designer clothing market on ebay. many of the high end jeans are all knock offs. people are trying to push $10 china jeans that kinda sorta look like diesel or rock & republic etc as the real product. it's a felony doing so but no one seems to get busted. back to the joints, how could you not be able to find spicer? one of the posters gave you a link to a site that sells them? also you can google six states trucking & order from them. as to the "right cap" that non rust stuff was hokey. when is the last time you noticed aluminum rusting? the steel can but it's 99.9% sealed by the aluminum around it. dana quit producing those for a reason. they didn't do anything. one of the guys at six states actually called dana about that when a c4 owner made a fuss. one of the techs at dana said the same thing. they were stopped for a reason, no benefit. just get a 1350, standard or the stronger non greese. think about how long the OE spicers lasted you, dontcha wanna replicate it?

I won't dispute Dana's conclusion, but will dispute the reasoning.
- Aluminum may not rust, but it does corrode, which is why anodizing & conversion coatings exist.
- Galvanic corrosion from the dissimilar metals is an issue in this application. The steel is sealed by the aluminum around it? Tell that to the bolts that get slathered up with anti-sieze before getting threaded into our heads or the brake rotors that people fight to remove from their hubs.
No benefit? I don't buy it. Not enough benefit to justify maintaining a product line for a dwindling market? That is more likely, and in the end it may well be an acceptable trade for us.

could be? i have no idea how it will go over the years. i do know that pulling a 2yr old joint is no big deal. 12yrs....might be different. at any rate dana is in trouble & GM is trading at levels it hasn't seen since the 50s. we're kinda stuck.. your arguement with the bolt makes sense. i guess we just bash the u joing with a bigger hammer or press when we need to remove a really old non coated one.

Thepartsladi's so called OEM Delco U-joints for $70 were never OEM on the Corvette.
They do not have the anti-corrosive coating needed for aluminum driveshafts. I got a refund on mine minus two-way shipping and had to fight to keep from paying a restocking fee.

I chose these as an option TO the spicers, these came highly recommended.
