O.K. I have reverse but when you put it in reverse it goes about a foot then it feels like the ebrake is on...You really have to get on the gas then it wants to fishtail...It will go foward no problem...Could the rear ebrakes be sticking??? Why only in reverse??? ......I.m Gonna try and push it backwards and see if it moves in neutral (Auto Trans)..I havent pulled the back tires off yet cause this happened last nite...will do it this afternoon...Hopeing it's not the trans...Your thoughts Please
Hi.
I have an 85 4+3 and I suppose you have a manual 4+3 also since the symptoms were the same as on mine.
I had a slight transmission sound for some time ad thought that was more or less normal. Suddenly the reverse was very weak. With that I mean it worked as if the clutch was slipping.
In my case it was the overdrive unit that was broke. It was among some things a bearing that was not fixed properly to the housing. Sit had nearly bored itself out of the housing.
I had to change the whole overdrive unit as there were no spares for this problem.
I bought then a newer one which is strengthened and has worked well since.
But today I would have changed it with a Tremec 5 gear transmission which is a total bolt on kit and manage very high torques.
Good luck
Well I found it...The frt left calipher lost the top mounting bolt..So every time I went into reverse it would flop down putting pressure on the Frt Brake ....Thats why it felt like the ebrake was on..It would flop back when ya went foward...Sooo off to the dealer to get a bolt...Anyone know what size that is???? 12mm x 1.25 ??? Its a big bolt
Thanks Dan But it was the bolt that mounted the caliper to the spindle..A 12 mm(Huge Bolt)... (You GUYS KNOW That Metric that crap) ...So after giving my money to a Stealer Ship I now Rock an Roll...I was Worried
