1986 Coupe/auto. I have recently built an ALDL cable for playing with scan software for my '86. First I built the ultra-simple single transistor example which would successfully talk with WinALDL but no others. I then built the 2 transistor version that appears to give the ability for the laptop to talk to the car.
I have installed along with the aforementioned WinALDL, two other scan software packages. One is Datamaster and the other is Freescan. Datamaster works OK with the new interface but it is a demo version that will expire soon. Freescan seems oriented towards Lotus vehicles but has the 1989 Corvette in its list of vehicles it can talk to. Since the 1989 has the same(165) control computer, it seems I should be able to use Freescan. I cannot get it to link up. Anyone have any comments on how/whether I can make Freescan work?
Having those logs of all the data generated on the store run is cool....just wish I knew what it means.
I used WINALDL a long time ago, great for its time but sort of primative. I did not have any success with Freescan but Tunerpro RT is free, up to date and userfriendly. If you try it you will like it. Datamaster is worth the $$$ if you can buy it.
I guess This is not much help, sorry.
