Default Headlight motor question.

I just replaced the little plastic inserts in the gear assembly of my 1988 Corvette. The gears work fine now however my drivers side motor will not stop when it gets to the open position and binds up. I can manually loosen it but it continues to open and bind again. It will not reverse and close. When replacing the plastic inserts, the drivers side motor was the only one that we actually took apart. Can anyone tell me how to make the motor stop before it binds and reverse directions so it will close?

Thanks

If you actually disassembled the motor, you may have dislodged one of the brushes on the comutator or lost the little ball bearing at the end of the drive shaft that allowes you to adjust end play. The system works by monitoring the current draw of the motor. When the housing opens the current draw is low and when the housung reaches the stops, stoping the motor, the current goes up, The controller senses this increase and shuts the motor off. Did you remove any wires from the connector at the end of the harness? Hope this helps

The brushes on the armature are in tact. We lost the little ball bearing but replaced it with another one that I believe was a little larger. We did not disconnect any wires. The motor runs while opening. It simply doesn't turn off fast enough when it hits the stops and then binds up.
