Default Another antenna question

HI everyone. I could sure use a little help on my 92 LT1 conv.
With the help of this forum and the service manual I have finally dropped the antenna down to at least below the muffler. I ended up having to break the mast off to get it low enough to get the ground screw out.
Now I am not sure how to replace the cable and mast. All the instructions are a little misleading here. If any of you can help me out at this point I would be very happy. Everything I have read tells how to make sure it feeds ok, but not much on how to get the old mast out.
It is the type that has the rubber cover on it.
I love my 92 conv. it is Black Rose with lite gray interior and I think most of all the options except the z package and hard top. When I got it last year it only had 36510 miles on her. Not much more now as the weather has not been too kind here in Iowa.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

There is a nut on the top of the assembly that has to come off. Since you have it removed the entire assembly already, you might be able to grab the special nut head with a pare of pliers or such. After that power up the radio and run the antenna up and then pull out the antenna.

BTW - There is a special socket for the antenna nut.

Note as you pull it out the side that the teeth are on. Measure the nylon length once out comparing the old and new. If they are not the same length, then there is a piece broken off inside and the assembly has to come apart to be cleaned out.

It all is good though insert mast teeth facing same way tighten nut and power down and up till it seats properly.

if the "antenna ribbon" is broken or missing teeth, i would separate teh motor housing and clean out, removing all the old grease, re-lube, and go from there......if you leave ANYTHING in there, you are slated for another failure....
