I had a guy install a new stereo system and he didn't finish it up. The rear speakers work and he did install speakers in the dash and they work great but he didn't remove the amps in the door panel and he didn't wire the radio to the antenna!!! This is a code red, repeat, CODE RED! Need Help. What do I do?
My car is an 87 with Bose, now without for good. The head unit is pioneer and the 4 inch speakers are Infiniti reference speakers, 4".
With the door panel off, I am also installing the vapor sound barriers, and the metal handles for the door arm. Oh yeah, I painted the door panels and the arm rest. Pics not until finished.
Peek under the passenger side dash for the old Bose radio. I'm fairly sure you will need a GM up to standard antenna converter but won't have to buy any length of cable to make it reach.
You could always wire the antenna to a switch so you dont have to raise it at all unless your listening to the radio
That is exactly what I would like to do. Do I still need the GM standard antenna converter. What do I need to do?
And yes I tried to tell the guy about the Bose but the guy knew more than anyone. I kept telling him about the Bose and he was like, yeah it's typical GM stuff. When he finished with the work he did do, he said, "he didn't know the amp was by he speaker." What can you say to that. Other than I told you so. Very frustrating.
So Please help with any info about the wiring. I live in Steamboat Springs, CO. And it is three hours to the closest Radio Shop. So I will attempt to do it myself. Will the FSM provide the info I need. I don't think so because this isn't factory stuff. Thanks again for any help I can get.
Search the forum for "Pink antenna wire". Many have installed the switch and written up proceedures. The switch allows you to open the antenna trigger circuit.
Remove bose from doors http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereor...etteFspk89.htm
What is not hooked up to antenna, trigger power or coaxial cable ??
The power antenna relay wire is pink. If you pull the deck out, you will find 2 pink wires, one for amp relay, one for antenna relay. Apply 12 volts to each to figure out which one is antenna. Take antenna wire from deck and connect it to antenna relay wire.
If it's a coaxial problem, get an adapter.
Did you get your vrumvrum mount ??
Oh yeah, I got the Vroom Vroom. It's sweet. Will post pics of everything I have done to the car when total install is finished. Thanks for the bose speaker removal web page agent86.
The FSM was no help but you guys rock.

So the 12 volts on the pink wire shows the antenna relay. What will show up on the amp relay? How many volts, am I understanding this right or not. What do I set my volt meter on? I know nothing of wiring, Sorry. I did my a SCOSCHE universal antenna adapter in case I need it. I hope that is the right one. I already have the GM radio adapter. If there is anything else I need to do let me know. Thanks again everyone for your help. Todd
