I bought a diacom setup from forum member Jake, satisfied with the transaction. The floppy he sent me was blank though, no big deal, I'll just use tunerpro or winaldl right? But, they don't support '85s. I've got an aldl hookup that can go from the printer port, and I have a usb adapter so I can make it go from the usb also.
Any free programs out there that support the '85? With tunerpro rt, I could pull stock info off the ecm, but I couldn't get any live data. I need to see sensor inputs such as tps, cts, iac counts, etc.
Any help?
One other question, will the diacom cables already have the 10k resistor for the A&B ports already built in? I would assume so...
Wait, got that wrong. winaldl will suport the '85, but it requires a connection from a different port, that I don't have a cable for.
I'd really just like to get my hands on some diacom software though, the program looks really user friendly, at least for what I'm trying to accomplish, so does tunerpro rt though.
Tunerpro RT works, you just have to find a definition file for the '85. Look at the ThirdGen site - there is a file out there that works. I don't have the link handy here (at work) but you can find it if you search around.
I did have to make a couple of minor edits to the definition file - specifically to which data bits in the stream it was looking at for certain things. Not too big a deal - and I guess it's to be expected - the file does say "untested"...
Win ALDL also works, you just have to lie to it about the connection speed. Frankly I find Tuner pro a better way to go, but either way you get the data.
Thanks Ron! I know that moates has a definition file for the '85 that can work with tunerpro, but the link I found was corrupted. I'll do some more searching around once this tropical storm blows over.
Send me an email link and I can copy you on the '85 .ads file that I have. It needs editing to correct a couple of small errors in where it looks in the datastream (I've got to try and remember what those edits Were, now...).
