My car is making a awful ticking sound under the valve covers or behind the distributor. It's hard to tell. Any ideas what it might be? Possibly the rockers(stock) are misaligned? I would be very grateful for any help provided.

Have you had the car for awhile......or did you just acquire it? Some fuel injectors make God awful taping/ticking noise but that is par for the course.

Go get a mechanics stethoscope (sp) they're cheap, so you can pin point the noise. Could be a loose lifter, a noisy injector or?

You don't want to hear all the things that can tick very loud. Some can be damage and expensive. Get that stethoscope and narrow it down.

Rocker nuts can sometimes lose their grip in high temp situations.
Get the stethoscope, or a long (2 foot) screwdrive, and put your ear on the rounded end. You wil be able to come close to pinpointing the problem if you rest the blade on several components.
