Default hello and help with info

I've been passing the same c4 sitting at the edge of the road for all the years ive been in high school. Its been sitting there quite a while and it looks kinda rough. I'm thinking about checking it out and see what they wanna get rid of it for. Since i havent looked or asked I have no idea what condition its in or even the year. Its faded out gold and the only gold c4s ive seen are 84s so Im assuming its older.
I was looking for some general info on the car, whether or not it would be worth fixing up, performance, common issues. I know they are like most 80s and early 90s cars and some of them cap the speedo at 85. Im going to assume its the lowest perfomance and its a l83. These are rated at 200 or 205 right?? is there a computer cap on the Top speed or will it actually do over 85 and showup on the speedo?? It could be very possibly it went underwater during a hurricane, if so Im not gonna bother because that can cause alot of problems.
~thanks all

Default vette

Be careful on purchases of C4 vettes that need alot of work. Sometimes its cheaper to buy one in decent condition than to take on a task of what you are talking about. Good Luck!!!!

Keep looking if this one is not the right one. I can tell you from 30+ years of owning vettes that they are fun and cool to drive.

Stock, running "right", the Crossfire L83 1984 'vette was good for about 140 mph. In that ballpark, anyhow. Not a lot of HP there by Todays standards, but it was a monster in 1984.

Yes - the speedometer displays numbers that high - the bar graph display stops at 85 (or whatever), That doesn't change, but the Numeric display (the Numbers) keep on counting up.
