Default Question Valve Covers

Is it possible to do away with the breather hose that goes into the throttle body on the passenger side of the motor with out any ill affects?
I just picked up a set of old school Corvette Script valve covers with center bolts I am going to use. I need to machine holes for oil fill & a PCV valve in the upper intake side they have baffles set up for that. Just wondering if I can delete the breather for one less hole.
I know I could use the PVC as oil fill also which I might do.
I’ll post some photos as soon as I’m done.
Thanks.

I would not do it. All the air ingested by motor, should be metered by the MAF, just like the General did it.

Yes I understand that, however this is past the MAF it enters into the throttle body past the blades directly into the plenum. There is no way for the MAF to adjust for this air intake it’s part of the ventilation system. I will most likely machine a hole and use a breather as its set up now. Just was thinking about less clutter.

The port on the TB is the PCV supply port ;
Flows TB port to rocker cover- to PCV - intake.The air at that port is metered .
Run your engine with the TB port hose disconnected and see what is does to the idle=same effect as vac leak

Well i would plug the port so there would not be a opening
Bu I'll just machine both holes in cover and keep using both
Thanks

If you plug the TB port, you will have to eliminate the vacuum hose from intake base to driver valve cover(or you will be using unmetered air) and just have a breather in a cover. Doing this eliminates the motor's ability to suck the vapours out of the crankcase and burn them up. Your motor likes to have it's crankcase sucked, so make it happy.

Thanks everyone for your input. I was thinking that the ventilation needed to be complete on both covers, but wanted to check to be sure.
