1993 Climate Control Head - Blinking
I have a 1993 Coupe with Auot Climate Control and heated mirrors. The control unit would blink for about 1 minute after I started the car. After that, only warm air would blow thru the vents. I took it in for service and they found a leak, replaced O ring in system to correct leak but the Climate control is still blinking and blows only hot air. How do I know if it is a bad control module or something else? Any fixes I can try without spending a lot more money?

i had the same problem. i couldn't figure it out. thought the freon was low... i took it over to an electrical expert, took him 15 minutes to do "his magic" and it cost me $45 dollars... but he "re-set" it. Whatever that entailed. I was pissed that it took so little time and set me back another $45 (at the time i had spent some serious money with this guy). Oh well, later i found out that just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery could solve it.

blinking light = stored AC code, usually means low freon. These cars have a quirk that after the code is stored the AC clutch will be diasabled in the CCM - so disconnect / reconnect the battery to reset the AC code before starting the engine and topping up the freon.

Glad to be of help. Expect that the Freon pressure is still low - you may have to fill it up at some point. (and you have to do it with the AC running.. it gets a little interesting in there :-)

Perhaps I am missing something in the story line but it seems like there are some pieces missing in it or I don't understand these events. Explain this out to me.

Good post and would have made the same suggestion myself as djxib did.
When you say working great I take that as , its now blowing cold air.
Not to put a damper on the party. But it makes me wonder if the compressor is disabled by the controllers error code, how to heck do you charge a system with out the compressor turning?

1. Low freon due to leaks
2. Code gets set, system disabled,
3. Professional shop replaces O ring, charges Freon (?)
4. Nobody resets the code until the battery gets disconnected
5. All now OK.
