Ok, connected tan to a black (not sure which, shouldn't matter) and jumped pink and blue, and all I got was sparks and smoke again. Then I accidently hit the window switch downward with tan and ground still connected and made more smoke and one hot paperclip.
Where'd I go wrong?
do the wires have to be removed from the switch assembly to do this? shouldn't be...

Wires MUST be removed from switch. It will short to ground if you don't.

Here is how to do it on a 96.
Remove switch from socket
Terminal G Yellow--should show 12 V with switch on.
Terminal D Dark Blue
Terminal C Brown
Terminal F Black
Jump G to C
Jump D to F
Window should go up.

wait a sec...couldn't I just jump off pink twice? run one wire from pink to light blue and the other from pink to ground...that should work right?

No. Pink is +12 to circuit breaker. Black(both) are -12. Blue is motor
and needs +12 for up. Tan is motor and needs -12 for up. benny

What year is the car? If someone can post the schematic we can figure it out. It is a reversible motor.

I'm just lost,
.
tried the pink to ground and pink to light blue...managed to melt some plastic that time.
MK, see if you can't relate that schematic to a 96's.

benny, how do you remove the wires from the switch, I can't see a way to do that without removing the wires one at a time.

You should be able to carefully pry the switch off of the socket.
Doesnt matter if you break the switch.

The plug will slide off of the pins on the switch. It takes a little
prying to get it moving. I think the plug is white, or was. That
is where it separates. A plastic tool is best. benny

oh, well removing the switch was easy.
Window is up! easy once the switch was gone!
Thanks for all the help, and very quick help at that! You guys are great! Now I'll button the dash back up and order a new switch. Might carry the wire and paperclip (already carry that
) so I can roll it down and up as I please.
On a side note, the window motor in that side is and has been slow for 2 years now. Where is the best place to get one? Hard installation?
