Ok, this is a small problem, but a huge problem at the same time. The pass. side window switch died today on the Vette, won't roll the window up. I've got to get the window up, hurricane is due to roll in Tuesday!
Can I jump the exposed wire on the switch and make it roll up or something like that?
I know i can jump two of the 4 wires mounted to the switch and make the window go up, just don't know which two! I know if I jump the wrong ones I could damage the motor, help!
mine is just really loose when i push it forward, just dead. something musta broke inside. I know I need a new one, just need to get the window up ASAP.
It is right now...but I go to college on the weekdays, can't be inside then. I'm also taking it when I evacuate from the hurricane, I need the window up!
I'm tearing thru the FSM, but haven't found anything yet.
Swap driver side switch to passenger side, roll them up, swap back. Good luck. benny
Would require removal of the wires and reinsallation, don't really have the means to do that. I just want to bridge the two wires that make it go up. any idea of which two wires that is?
The motor is reversible, so it won't hurt nothing to apply 12 volts and ground to either wire going to motor. One way will make it will go up, the other way will make it go down.
Thank you agent86! All i need now is a short piece of insulated wire so i don't catch the 12v myself. I thought about using a paperclip at first, prolly not a good idea. :o
I just want it up, don't care about the switch being broke right now. I'll go mess with it right now.
just use house wiring. or speaker wire. you only care about not shorting the 12 to ground. it's not going to do anything to you, it's only 12 volts DC!!
well...the first wires I jumped made sparks fly, not good. No action from the window. motor is still working, when I hit down, the motor is kicking in. The switch just died out of the blue.
Firebird didn't have power windows, so thats not an option.
agent, looks like I would need to jump brown and dark blue for the LH switch and tan and light blue for the RH switch...am I reading that correctly.
I have 5 wires going to my switch though...not sure why. Oh, nevermind, I see now.
This will take 2 jumpers. Unplug the switch, connect the pink wire
to the light blue wire. Connect a black wire to the tan. Terminal
A to D, and Terminal E to C. benny
