I'd like to know what you would have to say about the LT4 hot cam combo. What do you recommend, where and which one to buy and who does the work.

Keep in mind I live in Sothern California and unfortunately it has to be "smog legal".

Here is my project

I have not done it, but you can get the HotCam to pass smog easily with a good tune. I've even heard of a CC503 passing smog, again with a proper tune.

You don't need the combo, as you already have the rocker arms and springs that come with it. I'd buy the cam from Summit Racing, as they have it, and I think the price is pretty good (~$240 I think?).

Depending on how much you want to spend, recommendations vary. You could do all the work yourself and simply swap out cams. That would get you a nice HP bump. I guess the next step would be sending your heads to be ported and polished, ideally the intake as well. Then if you really want to go all out, a set of AFR 195cc heads. Depends on your goals and budget.

For reference, I'm about to do something similar this xmas. I'll be going with the CompCams 503 cam, which is slightly larger than the HotCam, along with CNC PnP'd LT4 heads, matched intake, and valve springs to deal with the increased lift.

I ran the HOT Cam, pocket ported LT4 cylinder heads, Corsa exhaust, and the Meziere and got 363rwhp at 6400 rpm. Torque was around 340.

The cam should pass emissions easily if CA just plugs in OBDII cars and looks for codes / insures all the flags are set. Just need to raise the threshold regarding when misfire detection starts. If you have to pass the sniffer, then added tuning should take care of it.

Last I checked, Scoggin Dickey had it for $199.

The HotCam doesn't have a CARB #, but there are cams close to it that do.
