Default 1pc or 2pc??

Ok so the L98...1 peice rear seal or 2 peice rear seal? I have been wondering this since the day i started looking at stroker kits because that seems to be the big question.

Damn, I can never remember if its 86 or 87, and Wikipedia said 87, so I went with it.

Never mind, nothing to see here....

I have this configuration on the 383 going in the vette. It is a one peice rear main seal block with a two peice crankshaft. I forget who made the adaptor.

Isn't it that some 86s are 1 and some 2???
If aluminum heads and roller cam then 1pc???
Earlier 86s with iron heads 2pc???
Convertables all 1pc???
I could be wrong but alot of things seem to have been mixed up in the 86s.

All 86s are 1 piece rear main.
86L have aluminum heads, no roller
87 gets roller

You can buy adaptors for the earlier pans or the late ones as well.

Yep, but obviously to do it right with your 85 block, you need a 2-piece. (Assuming it is stock.)

However, depending on your plans it might be worth 250$ to pick up a new 1pc block set-up for a roller cam. The cost of a retro-fit conversion is much more expensive than the cost of a used 350 core.

I believe that the 79 through 85 are right side dipstick blocks and are 2 peice rear seal blocks
