IM in the middle of installing Hooker shorties on the wife's LT4 and have a little snafu as normal.I have two different sets of Felpro header gaskets and either one of them fits worth a $#@!,the only one that fits well is the factory metal ones has any one used these with headers with succes if not what are you using. Thanks
I'm using the thick paper ones that came with them. I tried a set of mr. gasket copperseals but the embossed "rings" did not mate properly with the header ports and they leaked like mad as a result (the rings kind of "fell" into the ports at the corners if that makes any sense). Everyone says the paper ones are crap and they probably are but I've had them on over a year and they're still sealing fine. The separate flanges on these headers make it a pain to get them to seal since they're never quite straight after they weld up the pipes at the factory. I don't know why they didn't use a thick one piece flange like on most headers. Let us know if you find a solution.
I used the FelProgaskets when I installed my headers. Don't remember the # but they were blue with D shaped ports. Worked fine. I'll try to find my receipt and post the part#.
I have the Hooker header with the Fel-pro gaskets as well. I used a Demel tool and trimed the inside of the gasket to match the port openings of the head. I was showed how to do this by another LT4 racer. Go slow and they work great.
I have Hooker super comps. and the graphite gaskets that SLP sells for their headers are the 3 sepperate gaskets per side and they seem to fit and seal fine. :seeya
