89 coupe antenna extraction
i have the rear trim off the car for other work, i hear the relay clicking, and the antenna does not come up.
i have searched this forum for this subject and i have decide to perform a motorizedantennastectomy.
and not repair,
i have read about various methods; reach in from the bottom, thru the top, remove the wheel, blah, blah...
i like working on the car but not that much, heck cusinartvette is building a 383 for me, i'll keep ya posted on that one, so my plate is gonna be full.
so if someone knows for sure the fastest quickest, most painless way to remove the deadweight, i would like to hear about it... thanks
If your going to remove it, spend the extra 5 minutes and remove the wheel and the inner fender. Then you will see what needs to be done. The hard part is reaching up to get to the large plastic nut at the top of mast.

Not such a hard job once access is easy!

just bought the car i was checking everything out the po said everything worked but all i did was turn the radio on, then notice when i got home the left amp was out ans then the antenna was out as well...
one last question about the antenna and i'll put it to rest, the wiring goes thru a box, and thru a hole that is plugged by the harness's large rubber cork, all that is gone now, antenna( it was rather light in weight), wiring etc, i taped up the hole as best as i could contort myself and grope...
if i decide to install a whip antenna vs, a dash tune trapper, what are the chances of flooding that box in a down pour if i don't plug the hole?
conversly, if i go with the tune trapper, what's the best way and best looking way to cover the hole on the qtr panel short of bodywork?
thanks, i wish it would be easy, then they would label me a molester, if i took shortcuts....
