Default Bushings...

I know that replacing bushings is quite an ordeal, but for those of you who have done them yourself, what did you think of the job? I know a few of mine are starting to wear down and get close to needing to be replaced, and I don't feel like paying someone a poopie load of money to replace little rubber pieces all over my car.

When I go over moderate bumps there is a bit of a clunk .. it could either be my bushings or it could be the KYB adjustable shocks. Not sure. The shocks have about 25k miles on them.

if your kyb's are anything like mine were, get rid of them - fast. go either biltein z51 or koni adjustable then worry/reevaluate the bushings.

I haven't done it yet, but I am giving it a lot of cosideration. I bought a press to help with the job. I don't think I would want to do it without some sort of shop press.

I've tried to isolate the same sort of thing and I'm thinking it might be coming from one of the bushings on the sway bar.

A press does make it easier to remove them. You don't need one to install new poly's. I've taken them out the "hard" way, which really should be called the "dirty" way. They tell you drill some holes through the rubber bushings, push out the steel tube, then turn the blowtorch on them and just let them burn themselves out. Then you still have to remove the shells from the control arms that the bushings were in. If you have the motor out anyway, it's just more time than money to replace them. The lower fronts especially go. There's great place in Calif. that I dealt with that has everything in stock, and the guy is a great resource, and would be able to assist technically. Good prices too. Try Bruce at Suspension.com.
