Default 1988 headlight not rotating fully

I had the post rotation spin/click problem so I replaced the bushings and that went away. Now the headlight will make one good rotation, whether it be going up or down, and then, on the next pull/push of the headlight switch, it will make only a half rotation. After it has made this half rotation, if you try to actuate the headlight switch again, the headlight does not move. It just stays in the half up/down position. You can then manually crank it up or down and it will make the good rotation, half rotation, no rotation cycle again.

This is on the driver's side. The passenger side works fine as always. I was concerned with the little metal stopper piece that has a "T" marked on it that goes around the motor shaft. I didn't notice the orientation of this piece before I took it out so I looked up a picture online and put it in that way. The passenger's side doesn't appear to have this piece so I don't have anything else to go by. Should the passenger side have this piece also and, since it doesn't, could I take it completely off of the driver's side?

I guess, before I do that, the question is could this be causing my problem and if not what else could it be?

Also, do you think momma will be happy that I got rid of the original problem and overlook the new one?

By the way, it does not appear to be binding on any foreign objects and you can't force it to move by tapping or applying light pressure. Everything went back together pretty well so I don't think it's the motor.....I don't think....

It worked fine before except for the post rotation spin/click.

Do a search next time...it might be quicker than waiting for CF members to respond.

Order a set of these for each light that has a problem:

There is a "sticky" on top of the C4 Tech and Performance page by Shrade that explains the repair.

Sounds like you may have gotten the arm swung around on the motor for the drivers side. Follow the instruction on the sticky notes.

Been there done that. That's what caused ME to cause the problem in the first place.

Good idea about the arm though. I hadn't thought about that. I hadn't even noticed that you could swing it around the wrong way. Can you? I'll check that out. Thanks.

post edit: maybe you're talking about the little part that the roll pin goes into that attaches to the motor shaft. I'll have to look when I get home but I may have that backwards.

Those things can really swing around on you. Take a good look at the one that "works" and make the other one look like that....but reversed.
