Default help electrical issue?

ok i have an 88 coupe/auto. Driving a few weeks ago the anti lock light comes on. Thinking what's this? Then the lights and the radio dies then the car dies. I replaced the alternator and check the Batt. Good right... No! I pulled the Alternator off thinking I got the only bad one in the store and had it checked, kragen said it was good, but the volts still read 11.2-11.5. I bought a volt meter and checked the volts coming from the alternator it says the same as the guage. Can something be pulling from it, like the anti-lock brakes? Any help with the voltmeter. What setting do I use to check the system DC10A or DCV?

Rule of thumb, 2 volts more than the battery.

Use the 12VDC meter setting. You may want to clean up the battery terminals to make sure they are tight and clean. Your car battery could be toast....take it to a autoparts store and have them charge it and load test it....they should do this for free. For the ABS warning light; pop the hood and make sure the plug on the master cylinder didn't pop off.....remove the wheels from the car 1 at a time and pull the wheel/tach sensor pickups and wipe the crap off the flat bladed tips....drive the car and see if the ABS issue is resolved. Seems like you have a terminal connection problem...your getting voltage but low amps from the battery.

You need to fix problems as they surface so you don't end up troubleshooting multiple problems all at once and wondering if they are related or not.
If you plan on hanging onto the car you may want to pick up Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your specific year car. These books cover nearly everthing on your car. New reprints for an "88 run ~ $130 + tax & shipping.....there is one for sale in C4 Parts F/S section for much less....here is a link: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-p...e-manuals.html
