Anyone put a Flowmaster 50 series #8430522 (3" in/duel 2 1/4" out) on there C4 ?

I see that it is listed as having a 17" case and the stock one on my 88' is 14" case.

If they are to long, then I might have to go with one of the two chamber 40's or 44's (9430462) with a 13" case.

I have a super 44 series 3" inlet/2.5" dual outlets in place of the rear y-pipe section and it fits perfectly. Anything longer and the pipes coming out will be angled too sharp to flow effeciently, I had to remove the spare-tire carrier to prevent this. I would NOT recommend keeping the stock rear pipes.

Get the 13" case, they sound better anyway.

Master_Shake... thanks for the input.. I called Flowmaster and talked to a tech on the phone, He told me some there cat back and muffler system are based on the 50 series Muffler.. so I should be good to go with a 3" w/duel outlet 9430522's.. I will get my muffler/welder to put them in place of the stockers.. less than $200 from summit and welding well be a six pack or something ! so. that is a lot cheaper that a how system when I only needed new mufflers.. the 50's are the Delta Flow 3 chamber as compared to the 44 or 40's that are 2 chambers..

Whoa now, you mean removing the factory mufflers and replacing with 2flowmasters? You'll want to go smaller than 3" inlet then. Are you set on the 50 series? If so, 525552 would be better with 2.5" inlet and dual 2.25" outlets. If you'd like to go 40 series, then 9425422 is what you want. Super 44s? - 9425472.

50 series have a mellow tone, 40s are louder, and super 44s are very aggressive. If you want clips of each sound, you can either listen to them on flowmaster.com or check out the vid in my sig for the super 44. The reason for going dual outlets is to keep the stock corvette look, as opposed to a single outlet, and 2.25" is small enough to keep droning down yet big enough to improve performance. You'll also want to get some tips as well, because the mufflers aren't polished.

I have 50 series 2.5's on my Jeep CJ7 V8 and the sound is awesome. Low rumble almost quiet. The sound comes out the back with low in cab noise on my fiberglass bodied CJ. I recommend em. I have muffler eliminating system on my C4, no idea of brand and it also has a low rumble, aggressive sound under acceleration and some in cab noise but acceptable under 70. Check those out too. My .02

Why are you recommending 2 1/2" over the 3" inlets ?

thanks for you input...

Well, considering the stock cat-back is 2.25", and 3" is too big for a stock L98, the middle-ground for most L98 exhaust systems is 2.5". It will support over 500chp, and you will not lose as much low-end torque as you would going to 3". Even though 2.25" would be ideal for the current situation, if you have any plans for future modifications, 2.5" is a level-field for mild to moderate mods.

That's why I recommend 2.5" pipes.
