Default Pushrod guide plate question

I'm working on a '95 LT1. Installing a GM LT4 Hotcam.

I want to use Crower stainless steel 1.6 Enduro Roller Rockers with 7/16 - 7/16 studs, rockers are not-self alighning. Along with 3/8th hardened pushrods and the cam kit springs, retainers etc.

My question is. Will the stud bosses need milled down for the guide plates or do I just need the stepped plates?

Also, on a roller cam. This engine has less then 12K miles on it. Could I reuse the roller lifters?

I couldn't tell you with the guide plates but roller lifters are far more forgiving that flats. I would check the rollers for wear on either edge to say they have worn heavily in one way or the other. If they look pretty centered I would feel safe with reusing them.

The stud bosses don't need to be milled to use guide plates. I'm using TrickFlow guide plates on my 94, and the align near perfectly.

Yes, you can reuse your low mileage roller liftrs.

One of the main reasons for using the hardened guide plates for the push rods is that if the rods move to one side or another without the guide plates they will eat their way into your aluminum heads and you will have aluminum filings running thru your oil system..........not a good thing.

Now I'm wondering if 3/8ths pushrods will drop in? I don't have to use larger pushrods. Just thinking durability.

Just stick with the stock diameter pushrods. TrickFlow also makes a nice chromoly pushrod at a bargain price.

Just curious, what valve springs are you going to run? If they are the LT4 springs, you should consider a better spring while you've got the car apart.

Yes I was going to order the kit that came with springs & retainers. I have used the Crower Enduro's before and like them but that's the only deviation I had planned. I'm open to better spring info.

If want to run a stock diameter spring Lloyd Elliot reccomends these for similar cams to the Hot Cam.

"rated at .600 "max lift" but I would use them up to .570 lift and 6300 RPM. They are in the same catagory with the K motions or Crane 99846 single springs".

Sounds good. Looks like you use the stock retainers with them also?

You may want to pick up a set of the LT4 retainers and locks to go with those springs. The LT4 retainers are lighter than the LT1 version, and really cheap $$.
