Hey guys i want to here your set up with your LT1. I would like to know how much power you are making and if you know your 1/4 mile time. I basically bought a LT1 from a 96 impala ss. I say basically bc they are holding it for me but its still in the car and they want all the money before they pull it. I dont like that deal. I was going to give them like 100 bucks then the rest once its done so i know all the wiring is good and not just cut. Any ideas? It is complete with everything for 500 bucks.
I know it is 260 hp and 330 tq. Why is that so much less than the camaro or corvettes? Should i get aluminum heads? What the difference in the engines? My goal with the engine is between 380-400 rwhp.
thanks
kevin

Is it your intention to install an LT1 into a 91 or earlier c4?
No i have a 1990 camaro with a 305tbi that i want to get rid of. I thought that a LT1 would be a great motor to swap in to it.
kevin
It is not at all a simple swap. Lt1 is a whole different generation of engine and will not bolt in and work. Complete rewiring is required, among other things. In my opinion, it is not worth doing. Your time and money would be better spent doing a gen 1 350/383/406 combo.
Just 1 mans opinion though.
Disregard my post above. If you are getting rid of the car, I cannot see doing an engine swap of a second gen engine, nor a build up of a gen 1 engine. Why do you want to build a 400 rwhp car to sell?
Well It bolt right up to my 700r4 and need swap motor mounts. Alot of people are doing it with their third gens and it dosent seem to be that difficult. I will not be doing the work a local performance shop will be doing it. I just want to know some good set ups to think about.

You are in luck. Many, many good build ups here. One of my favorites is forum member RichS. Search his name and check it out.
Oh man thats real fast! My dad has a 69 mustang that runs in the mid to low 11's but never 10's. Im still in high school so im trying to find a good set up for the least amount of money.
thanks
