I'm a new owner of a 1986 Corvette. I never even sat in a vette till this past weekend so I don't know very much about them but plan to learn. Already I have a question hopefully someone will know the answer. I notice the accelerator pedal is very hard to press. The guy I bought the car from said this was typical of the vette, maybe so but I would like to know how to soften it up. Thanks for any input reguarding this problem.
I'm guessing this is an Auto and yes they are very firm to push down with the Auto - I'm 99% sure that its just the weight of of TV (Kickdown) cable thats adjusts the pressures in the transmission.
Having just done a manual swap the pedal is now what I would call "Normal" feeling.
The pedal should have a positve feel to it.....but not hard to depress. You may want to disconnect the throttle cable from the TB and see if it is binding internally. Congrats on the new purchase...you'll love it!

I also have a 86 that used to have a stiff pedal. Get a new accelerator cable and that will fix it.
Mine is as easy now as any car I have been in.
The cable is about 40, got mine from ecklers as my local chevy dealer's parts dept didn't want to take the time to find me one.
I guess with all the business chevy has now, they couldn't be bothered. ha

F'ckers. I never get Chevy/GM specific parts from dealers. I take my business here:
I found cheap OEM parts here for my '04 Murano. They have wide range of parts too. For the rear brake lamp cover/module assembly: Dealer/other online retailer wanted $286, this place charges $85.
You can try disconnecting the cable from the T/B, hold it straight up and spray some Graphite spray/powder on the inner cable and work it in, it might help some and save a few bucks for now..
