Gear Change

Hey guys, I have a 95 6-speed. I was thinkin of changing the gears to 4:10s. Does the whole rearend assy. have to be removed with the diff cover? Or is there a way just to remove the housing? Any other tips you know of? Thanks.

You'll want to remove the whole assembly for the swap...trick is to get the car high enough to pull the whole thing out in one piece. Take your time and you'll do fine.

You can just pull the differential, that's the way the shop did mine. I highly recommend 4.10's for the M6 LTx cars!!

I just pulled and replaced mine. Looks tough but actually a easy job. Use a transmission jack to support the diff assy. I have a diff [ 4.09 : 1 ]with cracked bolt holes where the bolts hold it to the "C" beam. Cheap. The internals are fine. If anyone is interested I can be contacted at orawiecs33@comcast.net
