I'm getting a code 24 which is something to do with speed sensor. I just sent my dash off to be refurbished and I'm hoping that is what is setting the code. will this code being set put the comp into some sort of limp mode like it would with a bigger problem, or does it only do that for things like low fuel pressure, MAF, stuff like that? I think I'm just imagining the loss of drivability when it pops up.

Forget about it...the VSS goes through the dash cluster to the ECM your car will idle like crap but it run OK..not great but OK. When you put the refurbished cluster back in reset the ECM and the code should not return. Since you don't have a gas gage right now make sure you keep an eye on about how much gas you got left in there.
1.)Your IAC will not reset and your idle will be unstable
2.)Decel fuel cut will not work and your engine will load up as you coast to a stall and even stall.
3.)The IAC throttle follower routine will become messed up. It will act like the throttle plates are hung open and keep motoring on for a couple of seconds when you let off the gas
