Default Car blew up NEED HELP

ok well the last week my temps have been climbing. Like for example: 2 days ago it got to 210. (normal for me is 194). then yesterday it got to 227. then tonight I was driving and it was climbing to 240 then to 250 so i turned into a gas station raised the hood and then BOOOM..a hose that leads to a SMALL valve looking plastic thing then goes to another hose blew off and then shot coolant everywhere. My question is should I have it towed to my house because I think I can repair it myself. I mean the part is no problem it is just 2 clamps. But I have never flushed coolant and refilled. If so can you guys give me step by step instructions and no I dont want to use the search function to finds instructions its hard to find. But another question is why would it get hot to a certain point and then stop and then get hotter another day. Same temps outside. Could it be because the plastic part was failing or maybe do I have a blockage?... Thanks guys for your future help.

Sounds like the thermostat got stuck. I wouldn't drive it. Call A_A and join over the phone for 30 bucks they will show up within 2 hours and tow it up to 5 miles for no extra charge...the $30 will go toward your membership fee for the entire year. Tell them you need a flat bed tow truck for the car (no extra charge).

That might be a good topic for you to do a search for here on the forum. The task is pretty straight forward you can't get into too much trouble unless you've got an opti. There was a great coolant flush thread about a month ago here in the Tech section.

If you cannot ID the hose correctly then I think you need a mechanic to look at it. Doesn't sound like you are a FSM/wrench turner.

its a valve that is right infront of the blank coolant tank on the passanger side. I gues it open at high rpms to push more coolant threw. Anyways it broke. I dont have to be a wrench turner to replace this thing. Its only 2 metal tightners. Never mind. Ill ask someone else. Some of you guys on here are dicks.

Just giving you a suggestion what hose is it Heater or Surge tank. I do not know of any "blank tank" or valve that "opens at high rpms" in a 94Corvette. Sounds like from your description it may be a flush port if you had a FSM you could at least tell us the correct name of the hose. Have a nice day

grab a socket and a wratchet and take off the t-stat cover and pull out the thermostat. Fill her up with water or a mix of coolant and drive it home. dont call caa and waste your money or tow it.

Either your car overheated and the temp blew the hose off or the t stat failed shut etc.

You shouldn't snap at someone for trying to stop you from doing more damage to your car.
It sounds like your stat stuck so you will need to change that and repair the busted part. The FSM will have instructions for flushing.

I say have at it

Grab yourself an FSM off ebay and start tearing into it

I already "guessed " it was a flush port i had one in my 93 in place of the above mentioned flow valve.

"temp climbing" day-to day might be t-stat, maybe debris in front of radiator, very possible just a small leak somewhere that slowly looses coolant till "tipping point" is past and boil-over occurs...if your cockpit heater stopped heating before the boil-over, low coolant probly the culprit...make obvious hose repair, while the engine is COLD, pour in enough plain water to fill the cooling system and start 'er up...let it idle for 15-20 minutes to see if temp goes above normal or water leaks at high rate from ?...if it heats up, have it "flat-bedded" to where the repairs can be made...if "normal" temp after 15-20 minute idle, take the "easy" way home once before declaring victory...if a few more rides are "no temp issues", drain/refill with antifreeze/distilled water mix.

Redeasysport very cool of you to keep trying to give a helping hand even after being bitten.
derekguzz I know you are stressed by this situation, and that you apologized for snapping, but this thread goes to show, that we can all come off as dicks sometimes, but they are not really dicks, here at least, or else !!! LOL derekguzz good luck with your car, I think it is the t stat. imho

Derek, I agree that your t-stat is probably bad as this is almost similar to a situation I had. Driving temps seemed warm but still in the range, then suddenly she went to 240 and wouldn't come down. Got her home before anything blew. Got a 180 t-stat from autozone for under $10. Cruising temp is now 180 - 185. As far as the flow valve, i don't know what it is called either. If it were me, I just take it off and bring it to the parts store and say, "I need one of these". The t-stat is really easy, just pull the intake duct. There are two bolts that hold the housing on. Take the housing off, pay attention to how the old one is placed in there, take it out, and drop the new one in. Bolt the housing back on and your done. Did mine in ten minutes.

BTW, Derek you have a tendancy to get all worked up and snap on people that are just trying help, you gotta stop that man. If you don't understand something, just ask what they mean. A little "please" and "thank you" goes a long way.
