I am considering changing my 94 Dana 2.59 rear to a 3.07 for a modest jump. I want to keep it as close to stock as possible. If anyone has done this, what was the cost and what was the improvement ?
My 95 has the 3.07's in it from the factory and it was an option I was looking for... not really sure why thou.. the 3.07's leave the line very well and pulls hard through the RPM range... but It's not enough gear for the LT-1... it really needs 3.54's or 3.73's. (someday I'll get them)
If you go with 3.45s you will have to change the differential to a dana 44 (more money). Since you have a dana 36, I say go with 3.54s. I got a quote at $450 for labor and fluids. The gears would be about another $350-450. You could also buy a rebuilt dana 36 with 3.54s in it. Zip has them in the forum mall for $850 plus your old differential. The swap would be about $250 for labor and fluids.
