I will be installing EM Long Tubes in the Spring; and I'll need my local exhaust shop to finish the welding and CAT placement etc. For my drive to the shop I dont want to use open headers (long story).. I'm thinking of using some flexi-pipe and exhaust duct tape for the 10 mile journey - does anyone have recommendations on where to buy flexi-pipe in a large enough diameter? (It is like flexible metal pipe that can be bent to shape)
I would go talk to the shop that will be doing the exhaust. They could probably fab up something for you to get to the shop, then re-use those parts in your finished exhaust. A pair of hi flow cats would probably muffle it enough like Jonnymac said.
But don't tell AAA that the car runs and drives. Having an open exhaust and just wanting a tow to a muffler shop to finish the work is a quick way to get a tow request denied or maybe even losing your towing benefits. And the number of tows you get in a year is limited anyway.
Check with U-Haul to find out what a truck and car trailer would cost for a one-way tow. If you have any equipment rental places around, you can check there too.
