I just picked up my LT4 6-speed over the weekend and yesterday I noticed the reverse lights were not working. I swear they worked when I picked up the car less than a week ago.
My question is: how common is it for the back-up light switch to go out?
If it is relatively uncommon, maybe one of you has a wiring diagram and I could try to troubleshoot it myself.
Could just be a dirty switch. Bad news is that it is located in the tran, just above the slave cylinder. You can try wiggling the wires at the connector, but these switches seem to be a problem. You can take it out, and it will test fine. Put it back in and it might work a couple of times...then not. Switch cost about $50 too. Just a real PITA to change out....especially twice.
Pull the connector off the reverse switch on the tranny and jump the two wires. With the ignition on and the car in reverse, see if the lights go on. If so, it's the switch. If not, bulbs or fuse or wiring.
