Default 85 window speed ?

Just wondering why my windows go down very slow. I have to install inner and outer door seals soon, so I am wondering if I should replace anything while it is apart. Thanks

This appears to be normal on 85's I have had mine for several years and they have always operated very slowly especially going up but other than that they have never stopped.

If you have a spare $200, install the newer style regs. It may not be long before the ribbon breaks.

Clean and lube everything. While a littler slower than the later style they should go up and down smooth and at the same speed all the way. I cleaned mine and replaced the switches and it a huge difference.

i installed a new ribbon in the drivers side of my 85, and cleaned and lubed everything. it greatly improved the up/down motion and speed. as i recall, down in 3 sec, and up in 4. not quite as good as my 90 (different mechanism), but acceptable.

Was one of the first things I did on my 85. Haven't regretted it one day.

I did say upgrade but on the other hand, take into consideration on the aftermarket ribbons. The plastic 20+ years ago vs the ones today. The plastic is going to be stronger. Yes, I know it was made in China but it still is better than that 20+ year old worn down ribbon. The new ribbon should last a goodwhile if the motor holds up.
